Deep Fried Shrimp Cakes - ทอดมันกุ้ง (Tod Mun Kung)

Shrimp cake is the top menu in Thai and Chinese restaurants. Grounded shrimp with various spices, knead and coated with breadcrumbs and then fried until golden crispy.

It can be eat with plum sauce to taste more delicious. It is easy to cook and fast food. It is suitable for the housewife who does not have much time for cooking.

Ingridients: For 2 portions
  • 300 g. shrimps
  • 100 g. pork lard
  • 1 tbsp. coriander root
  • 1 tsp. garlic
  • 2 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground pepper
  • 100 g. all propose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 200 g. bread crumbs
  • 2 cup of palm oil for frying
  • Sweet plum sauce for dipping
How to cook:
  1. Chop coriander root and garlic
  2. Add the shrimp and pork lard into the food processor
  3. Add coriander root, garlic, soy sauce, pepper, and salt
  4. Blend all until smooth
  5. Add marinate mixture into the bowl and rest them around 20 minutes
  6. Beat the egg
  7. Shape the mixture into small even-size ball
  8. Coat them with flour
  9. Dip into the egg and then toss with bread crumbs. Set aside
  10. Fry in the hot oil for about 2-3 minutes per side until light golden brown
  11. Remove from the oil and let's it cool down
  12. Serve with sweet plum sauce
