Kanom Rerai (Thai Dessert) – Thai Traditional Dessert ขนมเรไร

Kanom Rarai dessert is traditional and hard to find nowadays. It is used basic ingredients for Thai desserts that are flour, coconut milk and sugar.

It has nice aroma from sesame and fragrant candle which are a traditional Thai dessert method. Kanom Rerai will be served with shredded coconut, sugar and coconut cream.

Ingridients: For 4 portions
  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 1 tbsp. tapioca flour
  • 1 tbsp. arrowroot flour
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • Food coloring
  • Wood mold
Ingridients: For topping
  • 1 cup coconut, shredded
  • 1 cup coconut cream
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup white sesame
  • 1/4 cup sugar
How to cook:
  1. Mix all flour and coconut milk together on brass pan
  2. Turn on heat over low heat
  3. Stirring until cook and cool down
  4. Drop food coloring
  5. Knead until smooth
  6. Sprinkle rice flour over mold before using shape the mixture into ball shape
  7. Press them and put the white cheesecloth
  8. Steam over lower heat 4-5 minutes
  9. Roast white sesame
  10. Cool down
  11. Mix sugar and roast white sesame. Set aside
  12. Boil coconut cream and salt. Set aside
  13. Serve dessert with coconut, sugar, and coconut cream
  14. Ready to serve :P
