Papaya salad is called Som Tam Thai (ส้มตำไทย) in Thai and Bok lahong (បុកល្ហុង) in Khmer is one of the favorite and popular food in Cambodia as well as Thai. Sometime, it is jokingly called papaya boxing because of the way we made it.
Papaya salad is the most Thai popular menu that well-known among the foreigners. Mixed papaya with various Thai ingredients until get a full delicious taste of sour, salty, sweet and spicy.
Eat with sticky rice or not are delicious anyway.However, it is recommended to eat with sticky right and grilled chicken. It will be so delicious and unforgettable taste.
- 2 cups of shredded green papaya
- 4 tomatoes cut into quarters
- 1-2 ttbsp. Thai snake beans (cut into 1 inch sticks)
- 3 cloves of peeled garlic
- 2-3 fresh chilies
- 2 tbsp. lime juice
- 2 tbsp. fish sauce
- 3 tbsp. palm sugar
- 1 tbsp. of dried shrimp
- 2 tbsp. of roasted peanuts
- Peel green papaya and shredding
- Cut Thai snake beans into 1 inch
- Cut lime
- Cut Tomato into quarters
- Crush garlic and chili
- Seasoning with fish sauce, Palm sugar, and lime juice
- Add Thai snake beans and tomato. Then, crush them
- Add green papaya and mix together
- Finally add dried shrimp and toasted peanuts
