Stewed Pork and Egg with Five Spices - Moo Palo หมูพะโล้

Stewed Pork and egg, Moo Palo หมูพะโล้ in Thai, Khor ខសាច់ជ្រូកជាមួយពងទា  in Cambodia is one of the popular food in both country. However, the taste of this kind of food might varies due to the culture of cooking.

This menu is similar to Chinese recipe. Pork will be cooked until soft and has nice smell from many spices. It is a good menu for everyone, adults or kids and also easy to cook at home. You can make this menu in the large portions and keep it for several days.

Ingridients: for 2 portions
  • 500 g. pork with fat
  • 4 boiled eggs
  • 3 coriander roots
  • 5-6 garlic cloves
  • 5 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 4 tbsp. palm sugar
  • 1 tbsp. black soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon powder
  • 3-4 star anises
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
How to cook:
  1. Coriander leaves (for garnishing)
  2. Cut the pork into 2 "lenght x 1" thickness
  3. Marinate pork with 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  4. 1 tsp. black soy sauce and cinnamon powder
  5. Rest them 10 minute
  6. Heat oil in a pot
  7. Add garlic and coriander roots
  8. Fry until aromatic
  9. Add pork and keep stirring until nearly cooked
  10. Add spices
  11. Add water, soy sauce, black soy sauce, palm sugar, and boiled eggs
  12. Simmer for at least 30 minutes on lower heat
  13. Remove from heat and transfer to a serving bowl
  14. Garnish with coriander leaves serve hot with jasmine rice
