Rice Balls in Sweet Coconut Milk (Thai Dessert) - ขนมบัวลอย (Bua Loy)

Rice Balls in Sweet Coconut Milk is a popular Thai dessert that everyone seems to be well known.

In the old days, we make Bua Loy by using tapioca flour and sticky rice flour and kneading with coconut milk only. But nowadays we use color from natural or food coloring to make it more colorful. We can guarantee for easy cooking. Let’s follow us to the kitchen.
Ingridients: For the rice balls - 4 portions
  • 120 g. sticky rice flour
  • 60 ml water
  • 1-2 drop of food coloring
Ingridients: For the coconut cream
  • 200 g. sugar
  • 100 ml water
  • 250 ml coconut cream
  • 3 pandan leaves
How to cook:
  1. Mix the flour with water to make a thick paste
  2. Split out and add 1-2 drop of food coloring
  3. Knead until smooth and wrapped with straining cloth
  4. Roll the pieces into balls and put on the flour
  5. Boil the water
  6. Drop the rice balls into the water
  7. Remove with a strainer when the balls float and cool in a bowl of cold water
  8. Combine the sugar and water
  9. Add coconut cream and pandan leave
  10. Turn over very low heat, do not boil
  11. Remove the pandan leaves and bring the rice ball to the coconut mixture
  12. Stirring
  13. Ready to serve
